RAHWAY, N.J., Aug. 31, 2023 – Merck Animal Health, known as MSD Animal Health outside of the United States and Canada, a division of Merck & Co., Inc., Rahway, N.J., USA (NYSE:MRK), today announced that it is partnering with ByoPlanet, an Athens, Ga. based manufacturer of disinfectant and electrostatic technology, to donate up to $1 million worth of disinfection and durable antimicrobial chemicals and ByoPlanet electrostatic technology to the areas affected by Hurricane Idalia to protect the newly sheltered homeless animals affected by this devastating event.
The donation showcases Merck Animal Health’s unconditional commitment to the health of animals and to making a positive impact in communities affected by natural disasters.
“Natural disasters like the one taking place in Florida cause immense destruction and displace numerous animals from their homes,” said Justin Welsh, D.V.M., executive director of livestock technical services, Merck Animal Health. “Recognizing the urgent need to protect these vulnerable animals, Merck Animal Health and ByoPlanet saw an opportunity to step in and provide cutting-edge technology and chemistry to ensure their safety and well-being.”
The donation includes state-of-the-art ByoPlanet electrostatic technology, which utilizes advanced electrostatic spraying to deliver an even and comprehensive coverage of disinfection and durable antimicrobial chemicals to surfaces and air. This technology will be instrumental in helping to prevent the spread of diseases and to ensure a clean and safe environment for the sheltered animals.
